I'm an advocate of using what you're comfortable with. For example, UE3 is really easy to spot because of the lighting and how normal-maps and some shadows would look.įor someone who is comfortable in gamemaker, it's obviously the best tool to make a game. Hotline Miami was just surprising because I couldn't see the normal "tells" I get from a GameMaker game. It's about polish, and many people don't. It's not about the tool, it's about creativity. There isn't a good convention, or reason for some calls to be there (other than de-obfuscations of drag&drop blocks). I would be less upset if they were organized better. I mean for the different "move to point" or "check for collision" calls you can do. Sorry, but that's the same for any programming language.
